Giving at Hope
If you observed any Sunday at Hope Church, what would you see?
People meeting up & sharing life together; first-time visitors encountering a
community of faith; worship that inspires thanksgiving and hope; kids of all
ages having fun while learning about Jesus and the Bible.
Each of these things are made possible because Hope is a member supported
church. Without the tithes and offerings of our members and attenders it
would be impossible to offer ministries and resources that help people find
and follow Jesus.
Imagine… what would happen if 100% of Hope’s regular attenders took the
step to become a regular giver? These are just a few of the things that would
be possible:
- Greater impact on our community
- Expansion of current ministries
- More lives transformed by God’s love
- Creation of new ministries
- Expansion and improvement of facilities
- Deeper personal relationships with God
Why Should I Give?
Giving helps me grow in my faith.
Giving supports the ministries of Hope Church.
Giving allows me to be a part of God’s impact here in our community.
One of the greatest measures of spiritual maturity is how we handle the
resources that God has given us. Stewardship, honoring God with our
finances, is a form of discipleship that will help one to become a fully
developing follower of Jesus.
What Does the Bible Say About Giving?
The Bible says more about giving than Heaven, prayer, or even faith! Here’s a
sample of what God says about giving:
1. Faithful giving draws me closer to God.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:21
2. Faithful giving is key to a full life.
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and be generous and
willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm
foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is
truly life. 1 Timothy 6:18-19
3. Faithful giving blesses me in return.
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my
house. “Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw
open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will
not be room enough to store it.” Malachi 3:10
4. God loves those who give cheerfully.
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and
whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give
what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under
compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you
abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will
abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
5. What we earn already belongs to God.
But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to
produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your
ancestors, as it is today. Deuteronomy 8:18
